Heritage Club Golf Course Offers Best Game Raleigh, NC

With the start of golf season just around the corner, Triangle golfers are ready to get back on the fairway. After undergoing a greens renovation last summer, golfers at the Heritage Club can expect an exceptional playing experience for a longer season.

Because the putting surfaces have been replaced with Champion Ultradwarf Bermuda grass, a warm weather turf that produces consistent putting surfaces, the course is expected to be in prime playing shape from late March through October. During the hot summer months, there is less stress on the greens, and less maintenance required, for a better playing experience. Many courses with bent grass greens in the area struggle to keep their greens in prime playing condition throughout the hot summer months.

“We invested in the course last summer because our members expect an exciting, challenging game that’s unlike any other in the area,” says Andy Ammons, president of Ammons Development Group, Heritage Golf Club developer. “Now is when they will reap the benefits of our work last year – and we’re thrilled at the end result.”

After 10 weeks on temporary greens last summer, the no-till renovation was completed on August 27, 2014. This process replaced the old greens while leaving the structure in place, which preserved the contours.

Champion Turf Farms managed the renovation, which is an environmentally sound procedure that complies with the Heritage Club golf course certification from the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program.
