Hotel Phillips Announces New Arts Programming

Kansas City, Mo. (PRWEB) February 06, 2015

Hotel Phillips, a historic and prestigious boutique hotel located in the heart of downtown Kansas City, is pleased to announce a variety of new art workshops hosted by its Artist in Residence, Madeline Gallucci.

To kick off the month-long programming, Hotel Phillips and Gallucci will host the Hello Art 5th Anniversary Party on February 6, 2015 from 5:30-9:00 p.m. Hello Art offers fun and informative events throughout the community that help connect artists with those who appreciate their work. The 5th anniversary celebration will honor Hello Art as it continues to support the local arts community in Kansas City with a night long celebration with a variety of sensory installations and performances created by local visual and performing artists, as well as an After Party featuring the music of Hermon Mehari.

“Hotel Phillips is a proud supporter of Hello Art and the arts community and works with the organization often to bring local artists to Kansas City. We have featured one artist each year as our Artist In Residence to showcase the artist’s work throughout the hotel and its restaurant, 12 Baltimore, providing a hands-on, unique experience for our guests. We congratulate the organization on five years and look forward to many more successful partnerships,” said Gerald Rappaport, general manager, Hotel Phillips.

As part of the 5th Anniversary Party, guests are invited to enjoy complimentary wine and hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction featuring Kansas City’s top artists and supporting businesses, and music provided by jazz pianist Mark Lowrey. Immediately following the event, there will be an After Party in the Regency Room featuring Hermon Mehari. Mehari’s quartet will get the party started with jazz standards and swing, later transitioning to classy modern genres of R&B, pop and hip hop. The After Party will take place from 9 p.m. until midnight.

Tickets for the Hello Art 5th Anniversary Party and After Party start at $ 10 and can be purchased online at http://bit.ly/HelloArtFeb6.

Throughout the month of February, Hotel Phillips will be offering a variety of fun and interactive workshops, hosted by Gallucci. These complimentary events include:

Feb. 12 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.: Collage Workshop. With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, this kid-friendly workshop is centered on the idea of expressing “love” through art collages.

Feb. 19 from 5:00 – 6:30 p.m.: All About Color! Learn the basics of color theory and mixing and how colors interact with each other. All levels welcome. Class will begin promptly at 5:00 p.m.

The new programming is part of Hotel Phillips’ continuous commitment to the local arts. In recent years, Kansas City has evolved into a revived arts community. Being located in the epicenter of local creativity, Hotel Phillips embraces and supports the artists, musicians and arts organizations who continue to build upon the city’s reputation as a leading arts community.

Gallucci was announced as the new Artist in Residence in August 2014. She was selected due to her numerous works in the Kansas City community since graduating with a Bachelors of Fine Arts from the Kansas City Art Institute in 2012.
