Acclaimed photographers, Robert Caplin (New York, NY) and Peter Lockley (Denver, CO) join forces to lead a photographic adventure in Maui, Hawaii from June 9-14, 2015, hosted by Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea as part of the Resort’s Unforgettable Events series.

Open to photography enthusiasts at all skill levels, the Maui Photo Expedition workshop will take place in one of the world’s most picturesque natural settings and will consist of on-location shoots, instruction demonstrations, group editing, critique sessions and a gallery showing. Four Seasons Resort Maui will serve as home base, pampering guests with luxurious accommodations and amenities.

Caplin, an editorial and commercial photographer based in Manhattan, specializes in travel, documentary, celebrities and portraiture. A contributor to the New York Times, Los Angeles Times and Wall Street Journal, his work has also been published in National Geographic, Sports Illustrated and Newsweek.

“Attending workshops is a key element in the development of any photographer, beginner or pro. In fact, Peter and I met in a workshop 10 years ago and began our collaboration there. Experiences like these are a time for inspiration, creation and exploration and a great way to develop and refine skills,” says Caplin, who regards Maui as one of the greatest spots in the world to experience and photograph.

Lockley, a sports and portrait photographer, works with editorial and corporate clients to create dynamic storytelling images. Earlier in his career, he served as chief sports photographer for the Washington Times. He went on to work with such clients as ESPN the Magazine, the Colorado Rockies, Clarkson Creative and the NCAA.

“Participants will come away with a better understanding of light, composition, exposure, production, editing and printing,” says Lockley. “And we are extremely proud to offer a scholarship opportunity through the Resort’s social media platforms,” he adds. The Resort is hosting a Facebook contest in which the lucky winner will earn a scholarship to experience the workshop. Submission includes posting a picture of a favorite travel moment with a description and the hashtag #MauiPhotoExpedition.

Canon will be lending some of the latest photography equipment to ensure that workshop guests have access to professional-grade technology. In addition, a “Canon Lounge” at the Resort will serve as the workshop’s hub. Other partners include Adorama, PhotoShelter, Tenba, and Alii Nui.

Pricing for the workshop: $ 5,790 for a single participant, which includes all workshop fees and Four Seasons luxury accommodations; $ 3,000 for each additional participant, up to three staying in the same room.
