Surgical Group of North Texas is pleased to announce that Dr. Nathan Emerson has joined the practice. He brings extensive experience in General Surgery, including specialized training in endoscopic reflux surgery. Dr. Nathan Emerson did his undergraduate studies at Princeton University and medical school at Indiana University School of Medicine. Then, he completed a General Surgery Residency at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. Prior to joining the Surgical Group of North Texas, he practiced in Massachusetts for six years.

Dr. Emerson and his wife, a Neurosurgeon, chose to move to the area to be closer to family. When asked why he selected Surgical Group of North Texas, Dr. Emerson said, “I joined Surgical Group of North Texas because of their great reputation and excellent relationships with patients and physicians.”

He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and is an experienced general surgeon capable of performing the full range of operations in the specialty as well as advanced laparoscopic techniques.

Dr. Emerson has a special interest in endoscopic reflux surgery; he is specially trained to perform transoral incisionless fundoplication (TIF), an innovative procedure that restores the body’s natural protection against esophageal reflux. Many patients suffer from heartburn and regurgitation despite adequate medical therapies. The TIF operation is an effective and safe procedure with minimal complication rates for those patients with difficulty controlling the symptoms of reflux.
