New Lodge at Nakoma Opens Summer 2015 in “Lost Sierra” Region of Northern California

CLIO, Calif. (PRWEB) March 13, 2015

In an area of California just an hour from North Lake Tahoe that hasn’t seen new hospitality development in more than a decade, the new 42-room Lodge at Nakoma will open in summer 2015. The property will be the first element in Arizona developer The Schomac Group Inc.’s extensive master plan for the forested, mountainous, river- and lake-laden region of gold country known as the “Lost Sierra.”

An interior-corridor hotel, the Lodge at Nakoma is being built to complement Nakoma Golf Resort and Spa’s existing resort amenities and Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Clubhouse—the only one he ever designed. Knowing that if the legendary architect was still alive his aesthetic would have evolved with the times, Lodge at Nakoma architects Cathexes asked themselves, “what would Frank Lloyd Wright do today?” They then chose to emulate Wright’s principle rather than imitate his style.

The developer and architect decided upon a mountain modern feel for the 23,701-square-foot hotel, utilizing raw and natural materials in the construction such as tumbled travertine, antique woods and stone. Exposed concrete floors, hot molded steel and dramatic rooflines embrace features like floor-to-ceiling picture windows that welcome the High Sierra environs inside and overlook the eighth green of Nakoma’s Dragon golf course.

“Vision is contagious,” states President of The Schomac Group Inc. Ryan Schoff. “We foresee a rejuvenation of this spectacular region—it has tremendous desirability as a year-round travel destination given its largely undiscovered beauty, abundance of outdoor adventure and close proximity to the populous areas of Reno, Sacramento and the Bay Area, not to mention the already attractive tourist destinations of Lake Tahoe and Truckee.”

Guestrooms will average 400 square feet and include ADA-accessible rooms, plus several that connect for families or friends travelling together, or those attending a special event at the resort. Three suite-like rooms will be larger than the other—two featuring more expansive living spaces and guest baths with separate showers and tubs, plus another executive suite offering a separate living area with sleeper sofa. Within each room will be large picture windows; either two queen beds or one king; flat screen, wall-mounted televisions; free Wi-Fi internet; coffee makers with complimentary coffee and tea; and shower stalls or tubs with showers. Overnight accommodations will begin at $ 179 per night.

A porte cachere will elegantly usher guests inside, and free shuttle service will transport them to the Clubhouse moments away, where dining in the resort’s Wigwam Room restaurant, imbibing at the FLoW Bar & Lounge, sweeping vistas from the expansive outdoor terrace plus a full-service spa can be found. Golfers can peruse the Clubhouse’s Pro Shop before hitting the 18-hole championship course, and bocce ball lovers can delight in a match outside as well.

To be open by mid-summer 2015, the new Lodge at Nakoma will eventually neighbor a 13,000-square-foot recreation center and a 6,000-square-foot marketplace, as The Schomac Group continues to fulfill their vision for the area.
