Chaa Creek Tops New Kid- Friendly Hotel List

The Lodge at Chaa Creek in Belize has topped a list of the “Five Must-Do Hotel Adventures for Kids” as selected by the US award winning Kid Venturous travel blog site, and the Belizean eco-resort’s owners applauded the growing interest in kid and family-friendly vacations.

“It’s great to see an emphasis on vacations that engage young people, as this has always been a part of Chaa Creek’s family-friendly ethos and something that we like to promote,” founding co-owner and GM Lucy Fleming said.

“All too often vacation packages cater to the adults and older members of the family, so the kids are left either languishing or trying to enjoy activities designed for older participants. I think the trend is turning towards holidays that are more inclusive for every member of the family,” Ms. Fleming said.

The Kid Venturous feature on Chaa Creek referred to the Belizean eco resort’s Eco-Kids Rainforest Adventure all inclusive Belize vacation package, which combines fun with learning.

“If you want to give your kids a fun week away, while also providing them with exciting learning opportunities and local experiences, there are a variety of hotel programs worth exploring this summer. Take a look at five of my favourites,” Erin Gifford wrote before listing five hotels from around the world, taking in diverse locations from Hawaii, Bermuda, Cancun Mexico and Half Moon Bay California.

Topping the list was the Lodge at Chaa Creek, which Ms Gifford praised for offering a “Fun and educational children’s program,” before going on to describe the Eco-Kids Rainforest Adventure.

“Head to the Lodge at Chaa Creek in Belize for the Eco-Kids Rainforest Adventure program. Children will learn all about the tropical rainforest, the bright blue butterflies of Belize and the importance of conservation. Treasure hunts, horseback riding and exploration of Maya Temple Sites are all a part of this fun and educational children’s program,” Ms Gifford wrote.

The Eco-Kids Adventure is an all-inclusive Belize vacation package that engages young people to explore and learn about the natural environment and Maya culture with a structured program of activities designed to captivate a young audience, Ms. Fleming said.

“My husband Mick and I began sponsoring the Eco-Kids educational summer camp at Chaa Creek years ago, as a free week-long educational experience for young Belizeans to generate awareness about the environment and hopefully instil a sense of responsibility and stewardship in our youth,” Ms. Fleming said.

“After seeing how much all these kids embraced the program, and now having the infrastructure and experienced guides on hand, we decided to develop Eco-Kids into an all-inclusive vacation package and offer it to children and families from around the world. It’s turned out to be quite a hit, especially in combination with other all-inclusive packages of interest to the parents and older family members,” she added.

The Lodge at Chaa Creek is situated in a 365 acre secure private nature reserve, earning the reputation as Belize’s “Destination within a Destination” due to the wide range of amenities and activities, such as a Belize Natural History Centre, Butterfly Farm, Hilltop Spa, educational Maya Medicinal Plant Trail, Maya Organic Farm and miles of trails for horseback, mountain bike riding and guided nature walks linking over 70 recorded Maya archaeological sites.
