The Main Sights of New York

If you’re lucky enough to be jetting off to New York City any time in the near future, you’ve probably already thought of what you want to do in order to ensure you have the true NY experience. But if not, here are a few of the must-see and must-do tourist activities that will really make you feel like a New Yorker.

Firstly, as New York is famous for being a city that never sleeps, you really do need to spend at least one night dancing the night away until the wee hours, even if only so you can see how the city doesn’t slow down, no matter what time it is. You can guarantee that you’ll be able to hail a taxi at four in the morning with even greater ease than other times of the day – which is something to be grateful for if you’re about to collapse from exhaustion. In fact, you might even find you can grab yourself an early morning bagel and coffee on the way home – two more of New York’s essentials on the to do list.

As far as food goes, other items on the must-eat list include a slice of pizza and a hot dog from a street vendor. You won’t have to look far to find these, and if you’ve still got room after all that you can try to squeeze in the final quintessentially New York snack – a pretzel.

For more obvious must-see and must-do New York items, visit a few tourist attractions. These include the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, Times Square, Central Park and the Rockefeller Centre. There’s also Broadway, which is just off Times Square, which you can visit on your way to see Wicked, The Lion King or whichever Broadway show most takes your fancy. On the way back, head down into the subway in order to tick off another must-do item from your list: take the subway home. Just make sure you wash your hands after: New York subways aren’t exactly famed for their cleanliness.

After all that, if you’re still looking for essential New York things to do, hit the shops and visit places like Macy’s and Bloomingdales, two of the most famous stores in the city. And for some fun after that, Coney Island is home to a fantastic amusement park that many New York locals head to at the weekend.

Finally, enjoy a glass of champagne in bed in your lovely hotels in New York. The champagne in bed isn’t particularly New York, but it is most certainly deserved after a long day of sightseeing! So lay back, relax, and start planning what you’re going to do next in this fantastic and lively city.
