UDG Successfully Completes New Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway – A World-Class Entertainment Complex Featuring Horse Racing and Gaming

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) September 24, 2014

UDG, Inc. recently completed overseeing the construction of the new Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway in Dayton, Ohio. The new entertainment complex sits on the former 120-acre Delphi Automotive industrial site. The project includes a horse track, grandstand and a gaming floor with up to 1,500 video lottery terminals (VLTs).

A unique design element of the project is how the elevated sports bar serves as the central design feature integrating gaming and racing, since it is shared by all patrons. It is located to provide spectacular views down to the gaming floor as well as out across the beautifully landscaped horse track. The “racino” concept offers an increasingly-popular combination of gaming and horse racing. The property is managed by Penn National Gaming (PNG), currently the largest operator of horse racing facilities in the country.

UDG served as the design architect and the architect of record and was also commissioned to provide master planning, programming, back-of-house interior design, construction management and coordination of interior theming services. The new $ 78+ million (construction related cost) facility was designed using Penn National Gaming’s Hollywood theme which complements the art deco style of the Golden Age of Hollywood. The project also features an entertainment bar, sports bar and a food court with three venues. The facility is adjacent to a 5/8 mile harness race track for night-time racing accommodating 561 clubhouse seats, 476 trackside seats and 149 daily paddock stalls.

“UDG takes special pride in our role toward creating entertaining places for people. This facility has a special quality of vitality, filled with an energized public. Our close relationship with Penn National Gaming is a huge part of this success story – all moving parts connect to enhance the enjoyment of each patron,” said Don Buenger, AIA, LEED AP, Principal with UDG.
